For this review I decided to review the course announcement about experiment of Maati Baani music. I have herd this music before in the beginning of this course and I really fell in love with their music style. I thought this music was also great. I loved the mix of traditional India music with an electric twist. It was absolutely fabulous.
I recommend everyone take a look at this awesome band and their music.
I chose to review the course announcement from Nov. 1st, 2015: Found here. The event, called Day of the Dead Street Festival was an awesome event held at the Lloyd Noble Center. I attended with my family and we had a lot of fun. I was glad to see it here on the course announcements. It is always nice to see cultural events on the course announcements.
I wish I had taken a picture of my little brothers face painting. He sported a Dia de Los Metros mask. I attempted to explain to him the significance behind the festival, but he was a little more interested in the activities and candy... go figure.
I really enjoyed watch the Mahabharata video this week. I think the ability to include movies and videos into an online course is really what makes the course great! I wish more classes were able to do this. Also, the inclusion of different formatting to convey similar information to different students. Many students learn differently and I know that I learn a lot better with movies and other visual information. I chose this reading because I really liked the Mahabharata, but I was confused when I finished with the PDE Mahabharata reading. I am very happy with my choice. I would definitely recommend this to any other student. The final scene of the movie was pretty impactful for me. I really like how the ending engaged the reader. I spent a total of about 4 hours doing the reading and reading diaries and storytelling this week. It was an adequate amount of time spent on a project.
I chose to write about the course announcement posted on October 17. I am posting from a lovile phone that will not allow me to post a photo. I will add one later. I decided on this post because the cover made me really interested in reading this! I perhaps wil add it to my reading list this semester! Krishna's character is very interesting to read about.
For this weeks review I wanted to mention the Sunday, October 4th’s Course Announcement. I found this post to particularly interesting because this summer I was able to spend a couple of weeks in Israel. The country has a large Jewish population, but I did not know about the Sukkot Jewish holiday. I love learning new things about Israel!
I chose the post about Defiantly Vs. Definitely. I literally use the word definitely all of the time and it the most frustrating thing to miss type this word. I almost always fumble up over this word and I am forced to stop my sentence thinking and focus on correction the word. Thankfully we have auto correct :) Defiantly Using Definitely
This weeks course announcements I like the graphic and english proverb below. The proverb is, “One loose pebble can start a landslide.” I really love this proverb because I think it can relate to life in may ways. Not only can a landslide be seen as a destructive force, but it can also be a really creative force. In nature landslides destroy mountain sides and pretty much everything in its path, but landslides and also create new fertile soil for new plants to grow in. This week has been challenging for me and I think I see this quote as a source of inspiration. If I don’t make sure all of my pebbles are in place, then I could see a devastating landslide. Next week I am going on an archaeological dig in southern Oklahoma. To do this I am having to work ahead in all of my courses and try to finish up some major work before I leave town with no internet access. It has been challenging and I am currently, frantically, attempting to cement all of my pebbles down before the whole mountain comes crumbling on top of me!
For this weeks review I chose to read the course announcement for Friday, August 28th
Friday is my favorite day and I am happy that we all made it through the first week of classes. I chose to do this course announcement because it featured a quote by Dr. Seuss. He is literally one of my favorite authors ever. “Oh the places you’ll go” is my favorite story by Dr. Seuss. Below is a burning man video where they had participants read the story out loud! It is a lot of fun!!! :-)
In addition to Dr. Seuss I like the Indian Words in English post. I learned that bangle meaning ring-bracket or anklet comes from the Hindi word meaning glass bracelet. I love Indian culture and clothing is one aspect that makes that is especially intriguing to me, especially wedding attire!
I have begun this review earlier than I anticipated meaning that there is only one current course announcement posted August 22nd. This course announcement packed in a lot of information about getting started early for the course, which I was excited about doing! I hope everyone has had the opportunity to get started earlier on this course than normal. Lat year, when I took Myth and Folk I started and ended the course early! this became a major help when my final exams came around. I would encourage anyone enrolled in these courses this semester (or any semester) to start early! It will really help! I am excited to see what other students start posting about in Week 2 when we really start reading these epics!
